Goals for 2018

Goals for 2018

I’ve seen a lot of people write about new year’s resolutions, but I’ve decided to name them as goals instead, as that way I’m more likely to complete them. I have a fair few, so thought I’d split them into categories. I hope you enjoy reading them and will support me in achieving them.

Health goals

Go to the gym
Well technically I’ve got a membership for the whole leisure centre, so now is the time to pluck up that courage to go by myself or with my flatmate, if we’re both free and use it, taking full advantage of what I’ve paid for.

Eat more fruit and veg
I try and do this, but at uni, it’s difficult sometimes when you’ve got lots on! I really need to do this as much as I can, because I don’t want to be ill during my deadlines this term. Recently, I bought a meal planner from Wilko for only £2.50, so I’m hoping this will help me out with this one.

Drink more water
This is a rather simple one, I just need to get into the habit of it because I think I’ll feel better by doing it and it’s important to stay hydrated.

Life goals

Since sixth form especially and the my first term at uni, I’ve been so focused on set texts and other things, that I haven’t had time to read. Yesterday, I bought two new books which I hope to read this year.

Finish learning to drive
I started last summer and it was going really well, but since I’ve been at uni, I don’t think I have the money to commit to driving lessons. Which leads me to my next point….

Get a job in Leicester
This is easier said than done, but I’m giving it my all and I’m not planning to give up. This time of year it is definitely hard to find jobs to apply for, as places want less staff after the holidays, not more.

Go and explore the world
Whether that’s places in the UK, Europe, or the rest of the world, I really want to go and explore because I love to see new things and I want to take some amazing photographs- I barely ever take enough!

Use my camera
PHOTOS, PHOTOS, PHOTOS, IF YOU MEET ME THIS YEAR PLEASE REMIND ME TO TAKE THEM! I feel they are an excellent way of treasuring your year and by the end, you can reflect on what you’ve done and who you’ve met.

Start a journal
I know that I’d like to do this, but I feel it has to be perfect; the right notebook, the right colours, the right style… when I’ve made progress, I’ll share it on here, so look out for that this year.

Meet up more
I haven’t done this enough, as studying and working took over my life in 2017, so I really hope I can meet some of my friends if I can and this will really help to keep my mood up as recently I haven’t felt particularly great. I haven’t seen all the people I’d liked to this year, so I hope I can make up for it next year and create some lovely memories.

Uni goals

Create a better budget
I haven’t gone into my overdraft which is impressive I feel for a first year student, so I’m proud of that, but looking ahead for this year, I would like to save more where I can.

Start writing my essays earlier
This way I’ll have more time to review them and hopefully won’t get as stressed out by the process.

Move forward, and try to figure out my plans after uni
Yes, I may only be in my first year of uni, but I really want to have an image about where I’ll be in 3 years time and what I’d like to do. So I can start to plan how I’m going to get to that point.

Blogging goals

Take part in more blogger chats on Twitter
If you’re a blogger and you know about any of these/run a blogger chat, please comment so I know when they are.

Get to know some bloggers more
This’ll be achieved by doing more of the first blogging goal. I’d love to connect with more like-minded people.

Post a blog at least 2 times a week
In 2017, I was very inconsistent with posting anything until September, so any improvement on this would be great!

Own photographs and own graphics of my own
I do a bit of this already, but I’d like to improve these, so they are even more personal and original.

Use Pinterest
I forgot about this, until about December 2017, but it’s a great way to find inspiration for blog posts.

Use Bloglovin
I’ll admit I know very little about this, so if there’s any bloggers reading this post who know how to use it, please help me out!

Get 500 WordPress Followers
Maybe this is a long shot, as I’ve only got 128 now, but I might as well try! The reason I’d like more people to follow my blog is because I want to inspire and motivate!

Guest posts/Collabs?
This is something I don’t know much about, but I’ve seen other blogs have them and I’ve been asked if I’ll do them. So I think I’d like to start this. If you’re a blogger or someone who feels they can inspire/enlighten my readers on a subject, then please get in touch and I’ll see what I can do!

The end of last year came awfully quickly, so there’s a few posts I haven’t had time to write yet but they will come when I’ve had a bit of time to sit down and think about them. I’d like to thank you all for your support, with likes, comments, follows and shares and I would like to make this the best year for my blog so far!

This year, 2018, I will make a good one. I plan to live my life to the fullest and be as happy as I can!

Time to conquer. Time to change habits. Time to explore. Time to be focus.

  1. Loving all your goals! They’re super productive 🙂 For getting more fruit in, can I suggest one of my hacks? I always buy frozen fruit (WAY cheaper too – you can get a kilo of frozen mix of berries for like £1.50 from tescos, whereas 200g of fresh blueberries is like £2.50) so it’s pre-cut and chopped up if it’s larger than berries (there’s a really nice peach, mango and pineapple mix) and then I throw it on most of what I eat. Toast? Peanut butter and fruit. Cereal? Add in some fruit. Works super well and is so quick – and inexpensive xx

  2. I actually have a lot of the same goals! Especially with health and blogging! I’m interested in guest posting too but not sure at all how it works! My best friend blogs and I thought maybe I could guest post on her blog and vise versa and we can see how that works? I don’t know but it’s worth a try! I also want to read more. There’s a library right down the street that I decided to become a regular visitor of and start buying some personal development books online as well! Great goals! Hope 2018 is full of successes for you!

    1. Ah that’s awesome! I literally have no idea how it works, but would attempt it anyway, so if you want to do a collab post/guest post, then definitely let me know! Might as well tuck yourself up in the library during these colder months and that sounds wonderful. Thank you, hope yours is full of progress and gains too!
